Turning 3-4

Turning 34 is usually not much of a milestone birthday. In fact, I'd venture to say that it really isn't very exciting at all. But I can honestly say that it may have been one of the best birth-DAYS that I have had in a long time. I started the day by teaching BodyAttack. The kids had school off that day, so we hit the slopes right after I got done teaching. And it was like spring skiing---temps in the upper 40s, low 50s!! The kids had never skied in just sweatshirts! But there was a bit of a learning curve with skiing in the slush.
These boys
This picture is hard to see but Blake is that little orange skier at the top of the jump. Yes, I stood back and yelled 'stop! stop!' because I couldn't go down this jump with Sadie. As Blake took off, I made Wyatt go catch up to him (which he was NOT happy about) and I took a different way down with Sadie. I knew that this run was going to end in one of two ways--(a) either Blake would make it down successfully and LOVE it or (b) he would crash and we would probably be making a trip to the ER. There was no in between on this jump.
Here are a few clips from my phone.....after the first successful trip down, he was hooked! And literally, everyone on the chairlift that went right along the side of this run was watching him, commenting and expressing their amazement at such a little kid on this massive run.

Wyatt being a great big brother and pulling Blake along with his poles.
Sometimes I sit back and can hardly believe what I am watching---how is it that these three amazing people are my kids?! I can honestly say this is my favorite stage in parenting and I probably comment almost every day how I want them to stop growing. I am absolutely loving these ages!
Wyatt is the only kid in our family who has ski poles--he got them as a birthday gift and it's mostly because he's the only one who can actually benefit from them. But Blake (being the gear-guy) was dying to use them and Wyatt let him take a few runs. This was how he decided they would best be put to use....
Loving the independence of kids who can ride the lift on their own
Sign of a good day....with more fun to come!!
For my birthday dinner, we went to the Blue Door Pub--possibly one of my favorite restaurants in all of the twin cities. Nothing like a great craft beer with an amazing burger and fries--seriously I think this is my favorite food. And I got to enjoy the night with Uncle Ty and my four favorite people. Perfect end to a great day. I'd turn 3-4 every day if it was like this!
