In the moment

One of the things I love about Matt is his ability to be in the moment or as some might say, to stop and smell the roses. We recently had a night where Matt and I were committed to getting the kids to bed early because they were all overly exhausted. And they were all in bed before 7:30, which is nothing short of a miracle when the weather is getting warmer in the springtime.
Once the kids were in bed, Matt went and sat outside on our front porch to watch the rain--something he loves to do! And thankfully he did because he saw a double complete rainbow--two rainbows that touched down on both ends. It was so amazing that he ran upstairs, got all the kids out of bed and brought them outside to see God's amazing creation. He pointed out not only how beautiful the rainbow was but what the purpose of a rainbow is and a reminder of God's promise to us forever. It was such a special time and I don't think I would have gotten the kids out of bed (nor would I have gone outside with so much stuff to do inside!) but that's why God gave our family Matt.
