Last day of Preschool

Sadie's last day of preschool was last week boy was it bittersweet! It's hard to believe that Sadie will be in Kindergarten soon, yet she is more than ready! She had such a wonderful year in preschool and was such a wonderful leader in her classroom. She discovered her own love for teaching and each day after school, she would come home and pretend to be Mrs. Hulse (thank goodness her teacher was so amazing!!)
I have heard several mothers over the year mention how they always took pictures of the 'firsts' but never the 'lasts'. And sometimes you don't know when it will be the 'last', like the last time your kids come into your room during a bad thunderstorm. But in this case, we did and I had to document it all!

Sadie's hook--with Blake, who was always right by her side
Last time picking 'centers'--one of the best things about preschool, if you ask Sadie
Signing in....writing in her journal one last time
And the daily anticipation from several of the girls---there always seemed to be a group of girls (different ones) who would watch Sadie sign in and then excitedly look to her to see what they would do for free play or what she had to share with them....it was so precious! She just has such a contagious personality and her peers loved to be around her. She just makes everything more fun and exciting!

Blake and I left for a couple hours and then came back for the end of school--a mini carnival of sorts.

Sadie got her face-painted and then their aide, Mrs. Swanson, let Sadie paint her face
I can't remember what Sadie said it was, but she definitely knew it was something specific and not just a blob of paint (because of course it doesn't look like a blob of paint!)
And Sadie and Mrs. Hulse--Mrs. Hulse loved having Sadie in her class to help out some of the kids who were struggling or fearful and I am quite convinced that if Sadie does indeed become a teacher, it will be due in part to the inspiration from Mrs. Hulse. She was so great and Sadie loved every moment with her.
This boy cannot wait to be in school---but he is going to have to wait awhile!
And another picture for documenting----someday when Sadie looks back to see what she looked like on the last day of preschool, we'll also know what I looked like at that time! (Funny to think that I will probably laugh at these styles someday!)

And a few of Sadie's journal entries from throughout the year. I love when the kids bring home all their school stuff and we get to  look through it all and reminisce about the year and all they have learned. Even Sadie thought her self-portrait from earlier in the year looked funny!
You probably can't read all of this, but under her bead is her blankie, stuffed animal, plum, orange and Baby Owen's hat.....oh dear!
What a great year Sadie had. She was actually really sad about the last day because she wouldn't see Mrs. Hulse anymore, but she was elated that she finally got to take home some of her things at school that she has tried to replicate in her own classroom at home. So now she has a few more of the 'real ones'!
