Thanksgiving 2010

To start my Thanksgiving post off, I couldn't think of anything more fitting than one of Wyatt's Thanksgiving projects from school. He brought this home on Wednesday and I asked him what it was. His response:

"We had to draw what we were thankful for and I drew my family. (from l to r) That's Blake, Sadie, Daddy and Mommy. I couldn't draw myself because I'm not thankful for myself. You guys can be but I can't be."
I thought it was so insightful that he drew everyone else in the family as he usually draws all five of us when he draws his family.

Almost ready...Sadie was 'patiently' waiting for her sparkling grape juice and egg nog!

I made these individual namecards for each person, with the help of Wyatt

And although Blake wasn't using his napkin, we still had to make him one!
(we also made them for my parents and my sister Mary Jo who celebrated with us)

Finally getting her egg nog (they've been waiting for this day for weeks since I don't let them have egg nog until Thanksgiving)

The feast! (We missed you Lindsay and Rob! Hopefully someday Rob will be able to experience a true Thanksgiving meal in the states!)

I love this picture of my mom's face as she was encouraging Blake to keep walking and not fall

And what would a Thanksgiving be without a bit of wrestling afterwards?

Sadie LOVES to hear and tell stories and this picture perfectly captures the expressions she has when listening to a story. She is absolutely enthralled with any story being told and can retell them, word for word.

And then on to the Christmas decorating!!!!

Blake thought he was pretty big stuff when he figured out how to climb on Matt's step ladder. I'm telling you this kid is strong! Notice that the height between each step (and the ground and the first step) is the entire length of his leg! And he even figured out how to get down on his own as well (thanks to knowing how to do the stairs!)
"What did you say you needed Dad?"
We got some of the Christmas decorations out and then finished up once we got our tree. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving and we were so thankful to have my sister and parents here to enjoy it with us.
