The last weekend in February was the Woodbury Mite Jamboree and Wyatt was really excited to play in his first 'tournament'. There were a million people (or so it felt) at the rink that weekend with all the teams playing, but the kids had a blast. They played 3-on-3 cross-ice games, which disappointed Wyatt a bit that it wasn't a full-ice game, but the kids would have died!! They were exhausted as it was with 1 minute shifts for an hour straight.
Wyatt had quite the cheering section....Andy and Danny Lutz came to watch Wyatt as well as our good friends, the Scribners. Blake and Danny preferred to watch right at the glass.
...Blake's buddy, Addi Scribner, watched on the glass with him. (Addi is a hockey superstar as well as a great kid and my kids really look up to her.)
'GOAL' celebration
(I think Wyatt scored 6 goals in the first game and 3 or 4 in the second game....I lost track and was also trying to watch Blake and Sadie since Matt was on the ice with the kids.)
Andy and Danny Lutz getting an up-close look at Coach Matt and Wyatt
The pictures never turn out great when you have to take them through the glass, but I loved this picture of Matt coaching Wyatt in the background and Wyatt on a breakaway!
"Way to go Kids!"
(There were two girls on Wyatt's team, so 'way to go boys' didn't really work!)
As I have said before, Wyatt is an observer. And that doesn't stop when he's not playing....in fact, he rarely sat down when we came off the ice but would just wait for his turn to get back out there....
They don't have official goalies at the Mite level yet, so each kid got a turn to play goalie. Honestly, I think Wyatt liked this part the most! And we had several people come up to us and tell us how impressed they were with his goalie skills.....it all comes from watching Bethel games as well as the WILD games! I was impressed as well!
Still excited to get back out there!!
Checking out the team pairings with his buddy Jack
My other favorite picture----Wyatt and his buddy Jack listening to Matt's instructions
It was a great weekend and the kids had so much fun with all the excitement. They each got personalized posters as well as T-shirts from the tournament. And they slept very well each night!
