Last week the kids and I took advantage of our summer schedule and headed to Des Moines to visit some of our good friends. It was the farthest trip I have made with all three kids by myself and it actually went really well!
Ryan told the kids a story before bed.....Sadie and Elle were going to sleep in the same room together, but after about an hour of talking, we decided it just wasn't working and had to separate them! Maybe next year.
Despite the fact that Elle and Sadie are the same age, Elle has always been fascinated with Wyatt. It was funny to watch them play together....notice Elle holding her toy hair-dryer and Wyatt with his car....they wanted to play together but couldn't bring themselves to enjoy what the other one wanted to do.....
Elle soon gave up with Wyatt and played princesses with Sadie
(which Sadie absolutely loved!)
Elle asking Jen to dance
The girls were trying to dance together and 'twirl each other', but they couldn't quite get the moves down. Wyatt was so sweet and offered to show the girls how to do it.
...costume change...
I absolutely love this picture....you can really see the joy in both Wyatt and Sadie's faces as they play together. There are times when they fight constantly, but also moments like this when they have so much fun together.
We also spent time with the Boyd's.....and this was our snack for the kids at the pool. I had to take this picture because I was just amazed that we needed an entire bunch of bananas for our kids' outing to the pool....when did this all happen?? (6 kids, soon to be 7, between Annie and I)
Fun at the splash park with Olivia, Addison, and Ben Boyd
The next morning, Shane took the kids to see his truck and my kids still haven't stopped talking about this. They were so amazed that he had his own truck and they got to sit in it!
Before we left town, my friend Jen and her kids (Elle and Wheaton) and my friend Nicole and her kids (Kenna and Bella) came over to Annie's to hang out.....and this was our attempt at getting a group shot of the kiddos!
Wyatt's work (how else could we get a picture of the 4 of us)
It was a great 4 days that went way too fast (as always), but thankfully we'll be seeing much more of our friends in Iowa!!!
