We had an opportunity to go with several others moms and kids to one of the firehouses in La Crosse last week. Wyatt was quite excited and even wanted to bring his fireman book with us in the car. But as is the case with any new situation and my son, he was very apprehensive once we got there. He started his "nervous talking", similar to the questioning I mentioned in the previous post about the ducks and the horses at Jackson and Caleb's house. He was glued to me as we entered the firehouse and asked, "What is that for? Where are the trucks going to go? Will there be a loud noise? Who is that guy? What is he wearing?" and on and on. Sadie, on the other hand, just moved full force in to the action--no reservations.
The kids proceeded to climb on the front of the truck
And then we couldn't get Wyatt out...notice the fireman trying to coax Wyatt to let other kids have a turn
After watching the firemen slide down the pole, Wyatt wanted to pretend he was doing the same thing.Wyatt has quite the personality. He is very apprehensive about new things and will never try them without being coerced. But once he does it, he loves it and can't stop talking about it. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as he gets older. Sometimes it gets frustrating, but many people have reminded me what a blessing it is as I know he'll never get into a dangerous situation like climbing up something too high or riding a bike too fast. But the nervous talking just cracks me up---and I think he gets it from me!!
