School Happenings

Wyatt's first math test in 2nd grade..I was almost as impressed with his handwriting as I was with his grade!

Sadie has also had a few memorable things happen at school. She came home from school one day to tell me this story: "Mom, I told a girl in my class today that life isn't fair."

Me: "Oh really? Why did you tell her that?"

Sadie:"Well, she wanted to go next in line after another girl and she told the other girl that it wasn't fair, so I just told her that life's not fair."

Me: "What did she say?"

Sadie:"She just looked at me. I think she hadn't heard that before. But then I told her that she should be glad life isn't fair because if it was, Jesus wouldn't have died for our sins because he was perfect and didn't need to die. But he did. And our sins are forgiven because he did and so we should be glad that life isn't fair."

(The kids always hear me saying "Life isn't fair" and I had shared that story one day, clearly the Holy Spirit speaking and not me, with the kids because they kept asking why life wasn't fair and why can't it be fair...it was my attempt to show them that we shouldn't always be seeking what's 'fair' (thank goodness for Grace).

I smiled at Sadie and told her that was good that she said that, although I am quite sure it went right over the head of that little girl who just wanted a fair shot at her place in line!

4th Annual Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Patch

Finally posting pictures from our trip to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard with the Lundquists--4th Annual--yes people, I said 4th! Jen and I are now fully committed to making sure this happens every single fall, come rain or shine or busy schedules!

Of course we planned to go on the only weekend this fall that was below 40 degrees! (And wouldn't you know that I forgot my nice camera and once I realized it, I was sure that Jen would have hers--nope--she was counting on me! Epic fail.)

Such a great husband....I saw several apples that I just KNEW would taste good, so Matt obliged and made sure they ended up in my sack!

Auntie Cam came to town

Matt's sister, Cammie, came to visit us for a few days. She had some meetings for work in the cities and then took some time off to hang with us. We had a great time and LOVE having visitors!!

Friday night we went to the Homecoming football game between the two high schools in Woodbury

Matt's brother Tyler came and met us at the game as well

Sadie with Dixie's daughter Addy--love this girl and so going to miss her when they move! She's a big-time middle-schooler now, so she was with all her friends for most of the game, but made an effort to stop by and see us.

After the game, we had some fro-yo at Cherry Berry! Of course my kids eyes were too big for their mouths!

In recovery

I think it would be safe to say that September was a recovery month for us. It was great to get back into a normal routine with school, Bible study, etc starting up, but we were also so exhausted from August that it took a bit longer than usual. So yes, I took less photos!! But I did take some--mostly on phone!

Badger football season!!!!!

The newest reader in our house, reading to Blake with a bit of assistance from Wyatt. I love watching this happen, because it gives Wyatt confidence to be able to help Sadie and she LOVES reading.

Sadie is still loving her babies--one day I looked back in the car to see this. She had her baby sitting in the stroller that she was pretending was a highchair or carseat, and she had put the blanket over her head as well as the baby's to create some privacy from the rest of us and to block the baby from the sun.

We went raspberry picking and made lots more jam!! 

Wyatt had a 3-week skating camp and Blake wanted to be involved at any level possible...

Sadie, Blake and I have been enjoying our mornings together and have made great use of museum memberships!

Matt had a reunion/planning meeting with all the physicians where he did his fellowship as well as with all the past fellows, so he was in Columbus for a few days. He took some time to drive around our old stomping grounds and sent me a few pics--this one is of our townhouse. Such great memories, although the year was tough, and a great reminder of where we have been and where the Lord has brought us!
